Malta and Hemp
Malta e Canapa is a premixed powder mortar with 0-6mm Fine Canapulo designed for the construction of walls in Biomattone® hemp and lime, with excellent workability, constant color uniformity and limited possibility of saline efflorescence formation thanks to its water-repellent properties in the mass.
The product can be used for the elevation and sealing of external and internal walls built in Biomattone® hemp and lime. The mortar is classified Class M5 according to the EN 998-2 standard for its compressive strength.
The Biomattone® to be laid must be clean, free from dust, soil, and traces of oil or grease. In hot weather, the blocks must be slightly moistened with clean water before installation. Mortar and Hemp is mixed with water in traditional construction site mixers or with continuous mixing machines, mixing approximately 5.0-6.0 liters of water per 25 kg bag of powder. It is recommended to keep the water ratio constant until the end of the work. The resulting mix can be used within 2 hours. Re-stir with a trowel before use without adding further water. To install Biomattone®, after positioning alignments and plumb lines, use a trowel, applying even amounts of product depending on the size of the product used. Remove excess mortar and, once the plasticizing phase is complete, go over the joints with a special iron, making sure to keep the masonry clean during the process.
