Biosafe Validation Certificate

The Biosafe certificate confirms that Biomattone® and related products — Malta di Allettamento®, Bio Beton® Pronto, Bio Beton® and Bio Beton® 500 Venezia — have obtained the Biosafe Validation Seal, certifying their suitability for healthy indoor environments.

The Biosafe certificate (Biosafe product validation) is a voluntary certification addressing the health-related properties of materials such as Biomattone®. Starting with an assessment of Volatile Organic Compound emissions (VOCs, including, for example, formaldehyde and PAHs), the Biosafe protocol then requires verification of specific health-related requirements according to the type of material and the specific health risk.

Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions

Biosafe evaluates a construction product through a literature and document review of certifications already held by the manufacturer, an assessment of performance associated with the relevant “active” and/or “low-emission” technologies and, where necessary, further diagnostic investigation to determine the product’s actual characteristics in relation to Indoor Air Quality.

Biosafe Certificate and quality certification protocols

The Biosafe validation mark is recognised within certification schemes addressing indoor air quality under the following protocols: CasaClima (Hotel, School and Nature), ARCA and ClimAbita (EcoLife Home). Within these protocols, Biosafe validation is considered a mark of compliance with the product performance requirements specified by the above certifications.
